it's gonna be less than two weeks till we split.
gonna miss you 2e.
the past two years have been WHACKY,REALLY WACKY
we've studied together,played together,went bonkers together,AND EVEN GOT MANY TEACHERS PISSED TOGETHER(i know you're all very proud of that)
and we've actually seen one another grow up.
there's evidence from all the class photos we've taken the past 2years.
the girls,well,they've grown much prettier,more feminine,and of course,MUCH WISER.
the guys,ummmm...well..HEH.WISER?yes.more mature?OMG NOWAY.hahaa.all right, a little.

there has been a recent case of theft lately.
i hope you all know what precautions to take yeah.
we do hope it can be prevented.

do remember:
1. do not bring too much cash to school.
2. take your valuables where ever you go, do not leave it in your bag.
(guys: put in your pocket)
(girls: bring a bigger purse to put them in)
3. ensure that the classroom is locked whenever we leave for outside activities. (eg; p.e, music, lunch, recess etc)

We visited the Aisian Civilisation museum for our learning journey. It was really fun and nice. Our class were split into two groups. For my group, we only learnt about the cultures and gods of the Chinese and Indian due to the lack of time. After visiting the museum, we went to the Singapore River and Miss Yik briefed us about it. Then, we had a break and I shared some tibits and snacks with my friends. We went for the Singapore River cruise. It was really exciting. Tricia, Sara, Jia Qi, Yong Hwei, Tesselyn, Siew Bin, Yvonne amd Jolene was on the same boat as me. We waved and greeted people on the boat and the uncle was like:" What are they doing? Are they crazy?" But after all, I had a lot of fun with my friends on the boat. Our boat was also the first to finish the ride. This learning journey was really beneficial and hope that we can have another learning journey like this again.

On the 23rd of febuary, we visited the Asian Civilisation Museum and we went on a river cruise (which i have been on for countless times) as part of the excursion-Learning journey. The trip to the Asian Civilisation Museum was of course the most interesting among the two sites as i did not realise before that history about asian countries was not what i have thought or expected it to be. And the tour guide that accompanied us was very knowledgable as she had much information for most of the artefacts that we saw in the museum. She was clearly foreigner but she knew so much about the history of countries that are foreign to, more than i ever knew.She was nice too.
The route of the river cruise was always the same so the boat ride for me was a drag....Anyway the experience was different from the rest as i sat in the boat together with my friends.
In summary, the Learning journey was enjoyable.

It was the first time when the whole class could actually experience a learning journey together. I have learnt to be disiplined during this trip. I enjoyed visiting the museum even though I have been before.I have learnt more about the indian and chinese culture. I enjoyed the indian culture more as the stories about the gods and godnesses were interesting.
We also visted the Singapore River.I had learnt more about the river about the past when trading occured.I enjoyed the river cruise along the Singapore River and was breezy at that time.How cooling! This trip was fun but truely a learning journey!

It was twenty-third of February that my class 1D went for Learning Journey.

I found it quite interesting. I learned many things from the Asian Civilisation Museum. I was quite surprised by the artifacts they had and that they have it. They museum looks nice.

We got our refreshments in class, which are two Polar Puff cakes and a bottle of mineral water. Wee Sean collected quite a lot of Polar Puff cakes from the class, but in the end gave them back. The cakes were very delicious, especially the chicken puff (I suppose).

Aboard the bus, the tour guide thought us history. It was funny when the tour guide laughed and the kids laughed along in a strange way.

It was the first tome I went on a boat at the Singapore River. I remembered that the price was quite high. The other time I went on a boat was during The SAF open house. Those friends on the same boat with me made lots of noise. It was very noisy, it was noise made by them + noise made by the boat motor. They shouted things like "Sexy!" and "birdie you are my idol!".

Our class had our learning journey on the 23th of Febury. I was every excited that day as I knew that the class would be learning about things from the past and how things originated. We met our guide in the the bus on the way to the Asian Civilisations Museum, which used to be a place where births and deaths were recorded. On the bus, our guide talked about some of Singapore's history which was fasinating, but some people just talked to each other without listening to the guide. Our guide was also really funny because she laughed in a very weird manner which would make the whole class laugh whenever she laughed. When the bus reached the Asian Civilisation Museum, the class was split up into two groups. The boys in one group and the girls in the other. Each group was lead by a different guide.(excluding the one from the bus) In the museum, the guide which was leading the group I was in talked about civilisations in the past. Our guide talked about headhunters and about the dragon pictures on ancient chinese emperors' robes. After the tour, our guide from the bus brought us around and talked about the places we visited. She also talked about the names of the bridges we walked on and how they got their names. Next we had our cruise along the Singapore River. On the boat, there was a radio which talked about the bridges we passed under. The bridges were the same ones our guide had talked about. When on the boat, we waved to all the boats which passed by and Mr Rashidi even took pictures. After the cruise, we took the bus back to school and we all went home.

On the 23rd of Feb, we went to the Asian Civilization Museum. I was not really excited upon hearing that as I had been there before and did not enjoy it. We assembled in school as usual, and were taken there in a bus in which we ate breakfast.
When we reached, we were split into two groups, girls and boys. Due to time constrain, we only visited two exhibits: the chinese and indian. It was quite dark inside as too much light may make the artefacts fade or spoil. That also seemed rather creepy to me, as i get creeped out very easily. ( I am petrified of the tunnel thing in 'UnderWater World) I was constantly grabbing onto Elizabeth's bag. I was glad that it was finally over. While waiting for the boys to finish their tour, we were taking pictures of each other.
Before going for the Singapore River Cruise, we sat on the steps of some building to pig-out on the snacks left over from our Chinese New Year celebrations.
The Singapore River Cruise was very enjoyable, we were split into four groups, as each boat only had a capacity of twelve people. Each time we passed a boat with our classmates on it , we would wave at each other. Some of them even waved at total strangers! When we went past the Merlion, it was wearing shades, which was quite interesting.
When we got back to school, we still had science, but on the whole, it was a very exciting day, and I am looking forward to going out again.

The trip to the Asian Civilisation Museum and cruise for along the Singapore River was the unforgettable trip. First,we met our guide on the bus trip there. While on the bus, we had to listen to her elaborating on Singapore's history which not everyone was paying attentionto. She, our guide, talked and laugh in a wierd way which the boys of our class tending to mimic her. When we reach the Asian Civilisation Museum, we had to split into two groups, girls and boys and was lead by two other guide touring us around the museum. For the first time, we, the boys actually listen attentively to the guide. But in my opinion, I think Mr Rashidi is not really paying attention. After this, the guide brought us along the Singapore River introducing the various bridges along the way. Along the way we ate our snacks, taking a short break. After a while, wefinally reach "cruise", which was actually just a short boat ride. A few of us including, me was lucky to have Mr Rashidi with us. Along the way, Mr Rashidi took a photo of the naked boys statue. Though we were last to board the last boat, we caught up to the rest soon. Along the way, we saw someone closing up at the statue with his camera. Finnaly, it was time we wet home.....

The twenty-third of February was a really unforgetable day.In the morning,my class assembled in the classroom where Mr.Rashidi distributed our breakfast to all of us.We were going on our learning journey.My class was going to the Asian Civilisation Museum and to take the boat ride around the Singapore River.We boarded the bus and headed for the museum.Our tour guide for that day was Miss Yik.Everyone found her very entertaining.When we reached the museum,the class was separated into two groups.One group was and all-boy group and the other ws an all-girl group.The museum was extremely fantastic.We learned about the different gods and their stories.We also learned the chinese culture.Next,we walked around the Singapore River.After some time,we headed for the boats and went onto them.The class was split into four groups.The people on the boat i was taking consisted of nine people.The nine people are Tricia,Joey,Sara Pua,Jia Qi,Siew Bin,Tesselyn,Jolene,Jia Xin and I.When the boat was travelling along the river,we were really enjoying ourselves.All of us waved at every one we passed by and we took photos like nobody's business.We screamed and shouted.We found out that caucasians were much friendlier than others.None of them failed to wave back at us.When we got off the boat,we waited for the other pupils to get back.After that,we walked to where the bus was and headed back to school.In the bus,we cheered and made alot of noise.I enjoyed myself that day and will be very happy if the school planned another trip like that again.

We went to the Asian Civilisation Museum on the 23 of February. On the way there, the guide talked to us but I do not think that anyone was actually listening to her! When reached the Museum, we realised that we were late, hence our tour of the museum was cut short. The guide talked to us about the religions and showed us some of the gods that the different religions worshipped. After that, we proceeded to have a short break and then went for a boat ride on the Singapore River. Just when the ride started, it started to rain! Elizabeth and I were sitting right in front and managed to get hit by the small tiny raindrops. Unfortunate for us. However, thankfully, the rain stopped about halfway into the ride and overall, it was really enjoyable.

Our tour guide, Miss Yik brieved us on that day's activities and when she giggled, we laughed because we found that the way she giggled was humorous. When we were in the Musuem, we were split into groups of boys and girls and the guide of my group was Miss Ann Verdeek and she led us to many exhibits where many different kinds of artefacts from different civilisation were kept. After visiting the Musuem, Miss Yik told us some facts again and than we went to one corner and had a short break.After a few minutes, we continued on our journey and went to take a criuse on a bumboat along the Singapore River. It was a memorable and enjoyable trip and i would like to go there again.

When we were in the coach, the tour guide kept on talking about the ACM but the thing is...there were hardly anyone listening to her.The lady who talked to us about the various stuff was quite friendly and had let us chose which culture or religious stuff we would see. We went to see the Indian, Chinese exhibits and then left for some boatride on the Singapore River. The ride was quite fun. Everything was going fine when it started raining. Raindrops were practically splattering all over my face and it was really irritating. Well anyway, the learning journey was quite fun and interesting and maybe I'd like to go there sometime again!

After all that studying,I was able to let my hair down on the twenty-third of february,when the whole of 1D get to visit the Aisan Civilisation Musuem and the Singapore River.We realised that we were late by the time we reached the Musuem.As a result, I managed to view only two of the exhibits and some of the artefacts.Although the duration was short,I seemed to have understood.We had our boat ride after that,I managed to get not only the perfect view of the Singapore River and also the importance of the Singapore River.Having spent the morning,visiting the exhibits and touring around the Singapore River,I was all in...I hoped to have more trips to places like this in future...^-^ ChunXi(2)

On the twenty-third of February, my class went to the Asian Civilisation Museum as well as the Singapore River. Firstly, we went to the Asian Civilisation Museum at 1 Empress Place. In the museum, we learnt about the three gods. I think that the statues must have been bought at an expensive price as the oldest god was being preserved since the ninth century. In the museum, I felt that I was living in the olden days as people from the past used the calligraphy brushes, which were being displayed. My class was also introduced to the bridges outside the Asian Civilisation Museum and the guide told us that horses used to walk on the bridges. I could not imagine how it would look like then. Secondly, we took a ride in the Singapore River and during the tour and I saw a lot of people making their way to the eateries for lunch, as it was lunchtime. I saw a lot of banks and I also saw the Merlion wearing sunglasses. After we got of the boat, we boarded the hired coach and make our way back to our school. Overall, I gained a lot of knowledge from going to the museum to learn about the artefacts. I would never forget that memorable day.

LeoLin(30)We were heading out from school to our learning journey on the twenty-third of February to the Asian Civilization Museum. We met our guide on the bus, as she started to introduce herself and elaborating more about our tour in the museum later .She started giggling after hearing some of our opinions on what she had shared with us earlier on .Her laughter was truly hilarious similar to that of a witch in cartoons and soon started the class laughing too. Soon, we reached our first destination the museum .We were split into two groups according to our gender .We started the tour with an introduction on how our fore fathers descend upon Singapore .As we explored deeper into the museum we were fascinated by the sculptures of gods of other religion and culture .The museum guide was very specific in her explanations and the group was fascinated by the artifacts preserved and the theories behind every detail of the paintings, sculpture, bangles and etc .We were introduce to many other religious believes ,practices and were reinforce on our understanding towards our own religion and culture .The part which truly amazed me was the display of the robes worn by the ancient china emperors the fine work of embroidery and how detailed they were the robes displayed were too huge for a normal person.After the tour around the museum we took a walk by the Singapore River and at the same time were introduced to the different bridges along the river and was it named that way. We took a boat tour in the river on a river taxi to me that was the most magnificent part of the excursion it was very enjoyable and at the end of the tour, I felt very privileged to be pat of St.Hilda's to go on such an educational and enjoyable trip.

In my opinion i think that learning journey was the best trip i'd ever had with my friends. I find that not only i learnt more about history and how important the singapore river was, i also got into the museum where many artifacts found were kept there. most of the artifacts kept there had a history of that perticular religion just like the thailand monument, the one which showed a god sitting on a snake. I find that learning about other peoples religion is also very interesting. Singapore river was also an important trading port for us in the past, if not for the river that promoted trading, i wouldn't think of what singapore would be like now. We also sat on a boat which travelled around singapore river. We saw the merlion wearing a sunglass which most of us found amusing. I also think that the learning journey has made our class more closely bonded together , and i think that the school should organize more field trips like that. =)

We went for our learning journey on Thursday. In school, to my surprise and delight, they provided us with breakfast. As we waited for our turn to go down to the car park to board the bus, we started talking among ourselves. We talked about where we were going, who wanted extra breakfast and lots of other things. I ate my breakfast on the bus. The breakfast was delicious. The breakfast included a small pie and a sugar roll. First we went to the Ancient Civilization Museum. The Learning Journey........... was an excursion held by the school to instill some knowledge to students about some inportant things that impacts our lives. It can be about a person's religion or even about their culture. The learning journey that we went to was at the Asian Civilisation Museum. There were many historical statues that were created BEFORE CHRIST and looking at them, I find them amazing as they still looked as new as before. It just shows how important these statues are to the people then or even now. They were known to be imported from an Indian Temple in India after being placed there that cause some of its parts to be broken due to the time when people touch them when they visit the temple. Since it was time consuming, the guide only managed to show us a bit of the chinese statues and some of the Indian gods. Nevertheless, I still think that it was worth while as they were things I will not have the opportunity to look at and after the tour around the museum, I learnt some lessons from the stories told to us by the guide about the gods. It is just unbelievable that even gods make mistakes but the great thing is, they will never die. That was why when the son of one of the god had his head chopped off, it can be replaced by another head, be it a human or animal.
Besides that, we also had a boat ride around the Singapore River and it was actually a great experience as we can have a better view of the buildings along it and furthermore, I managed to get a better glimpse of the Merlion and took a picture of it. With this tour, I am actually even more proud to be a Singaporean as I finally realised that it has its own identity and how it started from a small island to a well-developed country. This learning jpuirney has really changed my point of view of Singapore and only today have I finally understood that Singapore is my true Home.

The learning journey trip was best ever outdoor activity ever.It all started on the bus ride.Our guide for the trip was talking non-stop but all that she was talking about were all history.We were split up into two groups,girls and boys,so as that it would not be too big a group.As the time was limited,we could not tour the whole museum but only the exhibitions on the Chinese and Indian.The scariest thing was that there was this extremely big head with big eyes staring ahead.I was just standing right in front of it and I was totally freaked out when I turned I saw it. But I had forgotten about it after we setted off to the Singapore River.
As we walked on to take the ride, we stopped occasionally and we did stopped to take a break.The boat ride was so fun.Tricia even took a picture of us as the boat moved.The ride was a real bumpy one that my bottom was in a slight pain after the ride.During the ride, we said ''Hi'' to everyone we saw.Some even waved back to us and even took a real short video clip of us.We said ''Hi'' to the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles and the Merlion with its sunglasses on where we 'U' turned back.As we were on our way back,we waved to everyone again including all our classmates.
The excursion will always be in my memories.The thing I will definitely remember most was that our guide for the whole excursion was very brave to wear a sleeveless top,raised up her arms and show her ''u know what''.

The Learning Journey was very entertaining. However, on the walks, some people kept disturbing others and fooling around. Especially the boys, who were not paying attention to what the tour guide was saying. The tour guide's laugh was very addictive and goofy!
We saw many exhibits at the Ancient Civilisation Museum and most were obtained from other countries and temples. the statues of the Indian Gods were eroded ans very old. The details were faded and the facial features were blurred.
For the River Cruise, we were separated into groups of twelve and my group went first. The people in my group were Tricia, Joey, Jia Qi, Siew Bin, Tesselyn, Yong Hwei, Sarah Lim, Jolene, Yvonne and me. We were climbing onto the hull of the boat and taking photos of our misbehaviours with Tricia's handphone. We were waving to the people on the two sides of the river. Some of them waved back and a few took pictures of us!
We went past the Merlion, which was wearing sunglasses! Many tourists were staring at it and taking photos to remember their times in Singapore.
On the whole, the excursion was very memorable and enjoyable. I know I will never forget this trip and the fun times we had on the trip. Although I will never forget the 'spiders' !

On the twenty-third of February, our class left for Learning Journey. First stop was the Asian Civilization Museum. As we entered the museum, every hall and wall was as though it was a Venetian palace. It was like being in Italy during the Renaissance.

Later, we split into two groups according to our gender and toured the museum. First, we made our way upstairs to be introduced to the early civilizations near and around India. My favorite exhibition was the "Staff of Authority" in which a slaves blood was needed to be poured in before the ritual was complete and the staff could be used. It's so bloody and gruesome! I like it.

After showing us all the artifacts in the first exhibit, we moved on to the Ancient China exhibition. There we saw an enormous sized emperor's robe (really, you would have to be really fat to fit into that robe). Despite its size, it still radiated a sense of power and strength due to the five clawed dragon sewed onto the robe. Due to the lack of time, we had to leave the museum to get to the Singapore river immediately so as to not miss our cruise.

After walking a terribly long distance ,we finally reached the boat dock. Just as it started to rain, we split into different groups into different boats and left for the cruise. A we cruised along the Singapore River, we saw many restaurants and bars. Waving to many tourists as we speed by, we soon reached the mouth of the Singapore River. There ,we spotted an unusually humorous sight : the Merlion at the bay was wearing sunglasses! Mr Rashidi swiftly took several pictures of it. I wonder who put those sunglasses there in the first place?

After that, we returned to the bus to leave for school. I really enjoyed the trip and hope that more of these trips will be organized so that we can also receive knowledge outside of school.

My learning journey experience was great. I enjoyed myself and learnt a lot of new things since the tour. There are two parts to it. One was going to the museum and the second was to actually go for a Sinagpore River Cruise. I have gathered some educational information.

First, the museum. At the museum, to support our learning, the tour guide for the learning journey decided to split us up according to our gender. Soon we were on our way to learn some interesting things about what we could find in the museum. The museum guide showed us some chinese caligraphy and told us how much people of the past valued writing and literacy. We even got to see some chinese Gods.

Soon after, we were off to the next room. This room is really mystified and majestic, full of figurines of gods. The first question one of us asked was if we were going to study all of the Indian Gods. The answer was no. The reason was that we had not enough time. One of the Gods that we learnt was The Dancing God. His job is to dance and kill demons. The Dancing God, surprisingly had a raging temper and actually chopped off his son's head. His son's head was then replaced by the the head of an animal that they first found, which turned out to be the elephant! We also got to know more about the Thaipusam festival.

We had a short break, after which we walked a lot more around the Singapore River. The Learning Journey tour guide showed ans told us how much Singapore has grown to be a modern city. Then it was time to go for the Singapore River cruise. It was the best and most interesting part of the whole learning journey. We got to see the Esplanade or more popularly known as 'The Durian'! We even saw the Merlion.

After that, we had to go back to the bus, our learning journey has abruptly ended. I can describe that day to be a tiring and exciting and at the same time, I acquired educational knowledge, beneficial to me. I really like the learning journey. I also recalled on our journey back, we actually sang a 'Goodbye & Thank You' cheer for our tour guides. In my opinion. we should have more learning journeys in the future, because it is fun, exciting and most of all educational.

The day before I went for the learning journey, I went to watch a concert in the Victoria hall . I happened to walk pass the Asian Civilisation Museum but was not able to drop by as it was too late. To my surprise, the museum was the place which I had wanted to visit the previous day. I was full of joy and glad that I had the opportunity to visit the museum. I was anxious and eager to explore everything when I reached there.

Our class was divided by gender. Our group was to give a report on findings of both the Indian and Chinese religion and cultures. The guide brief us through the whole process. Her explaination was clear and I was impressed by her knowledge and her confidence. I had indeed enjoyed very much looking at the different statue of gods. Each and every statues was unique and I had all my respect to them. They are very supreme to me as they did all to assist mankind in every life.

I was amazed about the legend of the "Elephant God", also known as the god of " Obstacles". It was a story of a father who had chopped the head of a boy whom he thought was a stranger at his house. To his dismay, his wife told him that the boy was his child whom had grown up and they had not seen each other for years. His father requested his men to locate any first head they could find in order to replace his son's head. They found the elephant head the first instance and hence the boy had the elephant head and human body.

After walking for sometime, another guide took us to see the shop which has replaced the house of "Tan Tock Seng". After which, we went onboard a boat which brought us to tour around Singapore River.

It was an interesting day and we were all feeling exhausted. The bus took us back to school before we were dismissed.

On the 23rd of Febuary, we went to the Asian Civilisation Museum and the Singapore River.It was our first trip as a class.In the morning, we did the usual stuff and went back to our classes.Everybody was excited and could not stop talking about what will happen during the trip. After we received out breakfast, we went down to wait for the bus. Within five minutes, the bus came. We boarded the bus and the tour guide introduced herself. The part about the trip that i can remember most was when the tour guide laughed. The way she laughed was really very hilarious.On the way there, she explained a lot of things. It was quite interesting though.
When we reached the Asian Civilisation Museum, we hopped off the bus and went in. We were split into two groups. Due to the delay, we only visited two museums.The chinese gallery and the indian gallery.I felt that the indian gallery was most interesting as there were many fascinating stories about the gods and goddesses.
After visiting the Asian Civilisation Museum, we took a long long walk to the Singapore River. I could not wait to take the river cruise. After some explaination about the bridges of the Singapore River, we proceeded to take the river cruise. During the boat ride, we waved to almost everybody we saw. We even said,"Hi! " to the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles. Although the boat ride was short, it was very fun.
After enjoying for the day, we headed back to school. I could not bear to leave the place. I hope we can go to Singapore River to take the river cruise again.I really enjoyed going to the Asian Civilisation Museum and the Singapore River. (",)

We set of for our learning journey in a bus on 23rd Feburary. Our tour guide was very interesting. She kept us entertianed us just by talking the whole way to the Asian civilisation Musuem. I especially liked it when she laughed. It was hilarious. Her voiced was magnified by the microphone, making it funnier.

At the Asian Civilisation Museum, we were split into two groups. The boys and the girls. They had split us up as they did not want the group to be so big. Our tour guide, Ann Verdeek brought us around the museum and showed and explained many artefacts to us. The one which I thought was the creepiest was the magic wand/rod. It was hollow for a special reason. The people belived that it got its magic powers by the 'soup' from boiling a kinapped child. Creepy right?

After the tour, which ended quite abrubtly as we were short of time, we settled out side the Asian Civilisation Museum for a rest. As we were resting, our tour guide starting her engines again. She told us some facts about the Singapore river and what it used to be like. I thought that it was rather interesting as i had learnt new facts about the Singapore river.
Shortly after that, we had crossed the bridge to the other side and had another break on some steps. We ate the leftovers from the Chinese New Year party. After that, we had a short walk to the bumboats. This time, we had to be split into groups of twelve.
The bumboat took us for a criuse along the singapore river. We went all the way to the merlion and made a loop back.Then we headed back to the bus.
Overall, i think that it was quite an enriching and enjoyable trip.

[Suman 31]On 23rd february,we went for a learning journey that I would never forget.We went to the Asian Civilisation museum.There,the boys and the girls were split into two groups.I was,of course in the boy's group and we proceeded to the South East Asian exibits with our guide,Ann Verdeek[To be precise,Ann].She told us about the huge drum which was there.Then when she moved on and was saying 'Buddha was born in India',at the last word everybody looked at me!It was like a immediate signal!Okay,that was one of the highlights of the day.

Then we walked and walked to the venue of the river boat ride.Although the boat was worth walking for,I agree with Shu Jun that the ride was too short.I also spotted the Merlion wearing shades.Cool!

I think this learning journey has taught me more about the ancient cultures as well as early Singapore.And.........as most of them say,I would love to come back there again..

We were going on a Learning Journey with my friends in secondary school for the first time. I was excited as I had never gone to the Asian Civilisation Museum before because I did not know it even existed. I have gone to Singapore River but had never sat the River Cruise before as my parents said it was only for tourists who came to Singapore.

On that day, breakfast was even given to us by the school. Our tour guide was Miss Yik from the Asian Civilisation Museum. She spoke very fluent English. All of us burst into laughter when she laughed. She was like “Hye, hye, hye,” non- stop, therefore it sounded really funny. She explained continuously about the place we were about to go to. I tried my best to stay attentive but I could not. I had to entertain myself by eating the breakfast that was given. Miss Yik said that the ride to the Asian Civilisation Museum was going to be a long one. I decided to take forty winks as to conserve my energy for the later part of the day…

When we got into the mueseum , the ceiling was very high above, that was why when we spoke we could hear our own echoes. As we were late by half an hour, our time in the museum was cut short by half an hour too! We went to the Indian and Chinese galleries to view the statues and artefacts they had to offer. I loved the visual effects throughout the short tour. We saw the different exhibits and saw some of the Gods the different of the cultures had Stories were told by my guide in the museum.

We left the place shortly. As the Asian Civilisation Museum was just beside the Singapore River which was our next stop, we went there straight. When I observed the river, I noticed that the river was really dirty. It was muddy, full of dirt inside. We were then introduced by Miss Yik about the bridges that were there. They were the Anderson Bridge, Reed Bridge, Cavenagh Bridge, Elgin Bridge and Elgin Bridge. After we passed Cavenagh Bridge we had a short break at some steps where we ate all our crackers and food we had bought or made. We, as a class, shared the food together.

We walked all the way to Reed Bridge which was at Merchant's Street before we could reach our destination. It was quite a far walk there. There were many River Cruise tickets sellers along the bank of Singapore River. When we reached the booth, we were really very exhausted. Miss Yik explained that the front of the bum-boats painted colours symbolises which dialect group the driver came from. In order to go up, we had to split ourselves into groups of ten. There were two groups of boys and two groups of girls. My teacher followed one of the boys’ team with the naughtier boys.

We boarded the boat and it took off. We were travelling along the coast line of Singapore River. We were really crazy when we said ‘hi’ to everyone we saw at restaurants eating, people who were walking, and anyone who were in our sight. I dearly hoped that we would never get off the boat. The breeze coming from our surroundings cooled me from all the sweat. When our boat ride ended, I was so sad.

I'm really happy that I went.

Learning Journey

I felt that learning journey was quite fun. I learnt many things during that trip.

At first, on the bus, I felt quite bored as the guide was just talking non-stop and I was just staring blankly into space. When we got down from the bus we split into two groups.

Since we did not have enough time, my group just went to visit the Indian culture and the Chinese culture. I felt that the Indian culture was quite fascinating as there were many stories behind the gods and goddesses. It was interesting to look at the statues and artefacts as they were all very old and some were broken here and there.

The boat ride was very fun as we got to sit with our good friends. We took many pictures and had fun looking at the many buildings and structures as we passed them. I liked the merlion the most as it had a pair of sunglasses on! So cute!

I enjoyed the Learning Journey thouroughly and I have learnt many interesting facts. =)

The Learning Journey was boring at first but as it goes on, it became fun. I loved the part when we went for the river boat ride although I was afraid that I would fall into the river when I was going aboard. But the rest of the boat ride was fun and till now, I still think that the river boat ride was too short. And of course, since I have something that I liked, I must also have a part that I did not like. And that part was... the talks were too boring!!! Anyway, I really enjoyed this trip and hope that the school would organise more of these trips. :)

Going to the Asian Civilisation Museum was a fun trip. I enjoyed it very much. The artefact that i liked most is the emperor's robe. I like it as the five-clawed dragon looks awesome. Legend says that it has the power to control weather and all the things happening on earth. It symbolizes strength and power to control people. that is why the pattern is found on the robe. then we went to the singapore river. i like the part where we took the boat to venture the river. it was fun as we got to know about the river and its history when it was a buisness harbour. i hope to visit it again.

The learning journey was on the 23rd of February 2006. our class went to the Asian Civilisation Museum while other classes except for 1E visited other places. Before we went to the bus, we were assembling in the classrooms and Mr Rashidi was distributing the snacks to the whole class to share during the trip. Breakfast was provided by the school and we were allowed to eat in the bus. Yvonne was in charged of the rubbish bag for the girls while Nicholas was in charge for the boys. While we were on our way there, the guide kept talking about the places we were going to visit and she just cannot stop talking. I was sitting at the back with Josephine, Yvonne and Shu-Yi. I did not really pay attention to what she said but just stared out of the window. I guess most of the people also did not listen to what she was saying.
Finally, we reached the destination. We got off the bus and went to the Museum immediately. We split into two groups, the boys one group and the girls one group. We went on to the Chinese Civilisation. There, we saw some portraits of the the people in the past and the some things use to write in the Chinese Civilisation. We also went on to see some words written in the past some things to show that their technology was quite advanced. I kept telling Shu-Yi that if Mrs Tang was there, she would be repeating that the technology was advanced as she always says that during the history lessons.
Then, we went on to see the Indian Civilisation. It was very interesting to me although I do not remember quite well what she had said. What i can remember was about the dancing Sheba. The son of him. Sheba chopped off his son's head as he did not know he was his son and the son did not know that Sheba was his father and did not allow him to enter the house.
Then after knowing that he was the son, he asked his men to go to the forest to take a person's or animal's head. Then he put it on his son's neck to replace the head. So, the son became the god of elephants as he ad the head of the elephant. It was a very interesting story but i cannot remember that well. There is another story about the peacock but i cannot remember. Then, because we ran out of time, we had to stop and go back. While waiting for the boys, the girls took some photos before the boys came out.
Then we proceed to the talking of the guide again. She talked for a long time before we started to walk again to the various statue that she wanted to talk about. She stopped at almost every where to talk.
After a long walk, i was perspiring then the volunteer said as if i just got caught in the rain. Then it was the boat ride. We had 10 person on each boat and then we go off. The boat ride was very fun! I love the part when the boat was very shaky.
Then we went back to school to proceed for our science. It was a fun trip overall.

On the 23rd February 2006, I went to the Asian Civilisation Museum and the Singapore River. We took a bus there which took us about half and hour. When we were there we could not wait to see the inside! The outside of the place was so beautiful as if it were a palace that belongs to a Sultan. – So grand and fascinating. We set foot in the museum and were split into two groups – The girls’ group and the boys’ group. Obviously, I was in the girls’ group. Due to our lack of time, we were only able to learn about two cultures, the Indian and Chinese culture. We learned so much from the two cultures. Though I’m a Chinese, I realised that I am not wary of some of the traditional Chinese customs. Even the Indian culture fascinated me a lot. Especially the Thaipusam festival, the way they pierce the spears makes me think why is there no blood shed?

Then there’s the river cruise ride at the Singapore River. Our guide told us that Singapore River is a very important trading port. Especially the belly of the river. Many trades were done there. Now I know how hard my fore fathers had worked for what I am now.

Through this learning journey, I have gained so much valuable knowledge from my teacher and guide. They have told me things that I never thought had actually happened in Singapore. Of course, I also had had a fun time with my classmates and bonded with them even more. Thank you for organizing this Learning Journey, I would love to go there again.

On the 7th week of term one, we went on our learning journey to the ACM, the Ancient Civilisations Museum. There, we saw many exhibits of many different cultures such as Hinduism, Busddhism and Islamisn.i found the part on Buddha interesting as i am a christian so i do not know anything about Buddhism. When the guide explained that the curly things on his head were snails, my interest was aroused as not many people would let snails cover their heads. I found the part about the Imperial robe interesting as i had never seen one up close before.By going on the trip, i learnt to respect the other cultures.I hope we can go on another trip again

The trip to the Asian Civilisation Museum was very fun and interesting. Our tour guide was very informative. She told us many things about the artefacts although she did not know all of them. I was most interested in the emperor’s robe. It was huge and whichever emperor that wore it would be very hot and heavy. The emperor’s robe has dragons on it. The five-clawed dragons symbolizes that he is an emperor. The five-clawed dragons are playing with pearls. Next we went to the Singapore River. We were split into four groups as each boat’s capacity was not enough for the whole class. I hope to go on another trip again.

We went to the Asian Civilization Museum and the Singapore river. Despite the fact that we were allowed to view only 2 exhibits, due to the time constrain, we did have fun and learnt many things about different cultures long time ago and up till present. We even saw real objects, artefacts, used by people in the past. There were chinese hand-written books, clothings the chinese people wore in the past, paintings and many more. Followed up next was the Singapore River! What I enjoyed most for our Learning Journey was the boat ride. I was ecstatic before I got on the boat. A look at the water could not convince me the dirty Singapore River in the past. The modern Singapore River is a place for tourists to visit compared to last time whereby it was used as a place for trading. Warehouses in the past had been converted into shophouses and were used for food and entertainment. I enjoyed the trip alot and will share my visit to the museum and Singapore River with my family members.

Learning Journey
The learning journey to the Asia Civilisation Museum and Singapore River was fun! I like the museum most because i can learn about the different civilisations and their cultures long ago. The artefacts are very nice and can see the difference and similarity of different countries and i cannot believe that they had tradings since centries ago!I have never seen before such a big drum in my life in the museum! The buddha statues make me know that we should never insult other religions.
Once we step out of the museum, we saw the river where live first started in Singapore.The Singapore River was beautiful. I cannot imagine how ditry it was last time and when they clear up, it become much more cleaner. Now it has become a place for tourists to visit.Last time, it was a dock for cargos to load and unload and the shophouses there where the warehouses and now, it has become a place for recreation.
I love the boat ride, it is so exciting! I did not know Singapore River had so much bridges!I think that we should cherish what we have now and we must never forget what our ancestors had did for us, without them, there will not be our mordern Singapore.

This trip to the Asian Civilisation Museum and the Singapore River has really given me fond memories. The trip to Asian Civilisation Museum has really been and educational trip. I have learnt much about the neighbouring countries around Singapore. I have never known that learning about other cultures from other countries could be so interesting. The Museum was full of culture and colour. The guide was very specific when it came to answering our questions or doubts.
What i enjoyed the most during the learning journey was the boat ride. It is not everyday that you get to enjoy the breeze and water. It is an one in an lifetime experince and I will remember the chance to see the Merlion up close. I shall bring my family to the Singapore river more often.
Although it was a pity that we were only able to visit two places but I am hoping that we will be able to visit more interesting places next year. But for this years learning Journey, I am very satisfied.
